The Cybaman Replicator
The Cybaman Replicator manufacturing system - a fast and powerful, fully synchronised six axes, CNC machine tool in miniature.
The machine's 3D datum provides a portal gate linking the real world workspace to the Virtual CAD world's datum enabling the machine to manipulate the work-piece three dimensionally by moving the CAD model.
This gives universal CNC access to all facets of a 3D surface providing a "one hit" manufacturing solution, the product being a functional part.
Overview
The System is Software driven from a CAD model using machining software and the Cybaman post-processor. This generates six axis process tool routes automatically requiring lesser skills for its operation.
The secret of all this of course is the patented manipulation system Cyba have developed and the simplicity of how we generate a program path. This together with the automation benefits enables the machine to pay for itself in a short period of time.
It provides overall productivity benefits by reducing unit production time to minutes by eliminating down time between operations, setting up time and the cost of jigs and fixtures, all non-productive features of traditional manufacturing technology.
Cyba Manufacturing Technology Limited are the Manchester UK based inventors and developers of a 3D CAD-CAM Manufacturing System, which provides a total system solution to industries who need to carry out process work on all the 3D features of a component.
Originally invented as a Grinding fixture, the system has been developed for high speed 3D machining and as a Laser Workstation, or as a combined process machine. The principle advantage being the ability to hold a work-piece at any orientation with only one setting up operation and carry out process work on any facet of its three dimensional shape.
The technology is centred upon a patented concept An Articulated Assembly of Members which uses a CNC articulated wrist to manipulate the work-piece, in 3D about the machines datum, where its surface always maintains the same relationship to the datum, regardless of the position to which it is moved.
The system simplifies the whole manufacturing process in that all the operations required for manufacturing a component may be carried out in a sequence in the same machine without having to reset its position. This creates productivity benefits such as the elimination of downtime between manufacturing operations, eliminates setting up time for each operation, eliminating the cost of manufacturing jigs and fixtures, shortening the production cycle thereby reducing manufacturing costs.
It eliminates the requirement for highly skilled operators since it is fully automatic and only requires knowledge of CAD for its operation.
