Plastic Materials
EOS offers you a variety of materials for use in EOS laser-sintering systems. These materials are based on PA 12 or polystyrene. Polyamide
is resistant to most chemicals, and the material itself is uncritical with regard to environmental and health aspects. There is
a wide spectrum of material variants for the special requirements of different applications. These materials can be distinguished,
among other things, by the filling, for example with aluminium, glass or carbon fibre.
PA 2200 - Fine Polyamide
PA 2200 is a fine-powder on the basis of polyamide 12.
Typical applications of the material are fully functional prototypes with high end finish directly from the process. They easily withstand high mechanical and thermal load.
PrimePart - Fine Polyamide
PrimePart® is suitable for the rapid and cost-effective manufacture of models, functional prototypes and end products as well as spare parts that have a balanced relationship between mechanical strength and elasticity over a wide temperature range.
PA 2210 FR - Fine Polyamide
Typical application of PA 2210 FR is the manufacture of flame resistant parts with high mechanical properties.
PA 2210 FR contains a chemical flame retardant. In case of fire a carbonating coating develops at the surface of the part, isolating the plastic below. PA 2210 FR is free of halogens.
PA 3200 GF - Glass-filled Fine Polyamide
Typical applications of the material are housings and thermally stressed parts.
Alumide - Aluminium filled fine polyamid
A typical application for Alumide® is the manufacture of stiff parts of metallic appearance for applications in automotive manufacture (e.g. wind tunnel tests or parts that are not safety relevant), for tool inserts for injecting and moulding small production runs, for illustrative models (metallic appearance), for education and jig manufacture, just to name a few.
Surfaces of parts made of Alumide® can be finished by grinding, polishing or coating. An additional advantage is that low tool-wear machining is possible, e.g., milling, drilling or turning.
CarbonMide - Carbon Fibre filled Polyamide
CarbonMide® has outstanding mechanical properties characterised by extreme stiffness and strength. Typical applications of the material are fully functional prototypes with high end finish for wind tunnel tests or other aerodynamic applications.
PrimeCast 101 - Polystyrene
The typical application for the material is the production of lost patterns for the plaster casting process. Generally PrimeCast® 101 is also suitable for ceramic shell casting, however special measures against shell cracking are necessary. Another application of PrimeCast® 101 is the production of master patterns for vacuum casting.
